A New Entry
The temptation to wildly opine and wax philosophical on inane questions of 'why?' and 'how?' is all too tempting. There are a variety of reasons, but let's not waste too much time here.
- I am dissatisfied with my current amount of web presence
- Gatsby is a dying framework
- I want to ensure I'm trying new technologies - at least new to me
- I want a better platform to engage an audience, or at very least capture my thoughts about my art.
In this immediate iteration, we have chosen Astro as a framework, which is my current favorite web framework to use. I have done work to ingest my discography data from a datasource I keep in the repository, hopefully giving myself a single source of truth. The thought occurs to me that I still need to add compilation appearances.
For the moment, this journal entry is being written in Santiy Studio. I don't know if I am going to stick with Sanity or try a different editor. My original thought was indeed to just keep it in markdown in the repository but I think my brain needs some contextually-specific editor for this journalling work. We will see if this sticks - as of now, it's very rudimentary.
Adding to my previous thought - my initial experiment was just creating an incredibly simple schema, but I've just started anew and used the pre-built blogging schema that Sanity provides, which is a bit more fully-featured. Again, let's see how far we get - I can see the obvious potential upside to going this route instead of using markdown. We will see.
